Worcester Cathedral

Antique slide discovered and owned by Granville Orange

Looking at Old Glass Slides – Granville Orange

Looking at old glass slides
Of times gone by
Recorded in those bygone days
Of Worcester City
By whom, who knows?
And who knew the relevance then
(More’s the pity)
Of those photographs today?
Memories to cherish,
Of places…
History in the making.
The majestic cathedral spans us all,
With centuries of congregations praying
Whilst the bells still chime
And along its banks still flows the Severn
As does time.
There we celebrate special events
With people we love
Just like you and me
Being photographed today
Yet tomorrow we will be gone,
Perhaps to heaven,
But as dead as stone
For sure long forgotten.
Yet here and now
Outside the very same cathedral,
On that riverside
Captured not on a glass slide
But on a mobile phone.
