Standing Proud

We are especially appreciative for Standing Proud – our LGBTQ+ Writers’ Group that we run in partnership with Out2gether – the fabulous LGBT+ group focused on nurturing friendship, support and community.

The Standing Proud Writers’ Group originated in 2020 as a short writing course started by The Word Association with support from Out2gether. When lockdown struck it became apparent that there was a real need for an ongoing writing group to help combat social isolation through creativity and connection. We continued to run the group until late 2020 when Holly’s youngest daughter was born! The group now continues to meet on a weekly basis through Out2gether as part of their wonderful schedule of inclusive activities. Every year The Word Association returns to deliver a 12 week focused writing course and publish an anthology of the participants’ work. These anthologies are distributed for free throughout Worcestershire Libraries and Worcestershire Prides by The Word Association CIC and Out2gether. The annual focused writing course and published anthologies are generously funded by The National Lottery.

The group meets online on a Saturday morning. Please contact Out2gether directly to access these sessions. If you’re interested in attending our annual 12 week focused writing course with a TWA facilitator and being published in our yearly Standing Proud LGBTQ+ anthology then please contact us.
